Founded by Sidney and Minnie Kosasa, the brand initially started as a drug store called Thrifty Drugs in the 1930s. Sidney's experience in the grocery and pharmaceutical industry led him to recognize the need for conveniently located stores offering fair prices to tourists visiting Waikiki.
